VNC to a remote server over SSH using Putty
1) Download Putty and Ultra VNC.
2) Install Ultra VNC. All options can be default. For this example, you only need the VNC viewer. (VNC Server is not needed)
Setup Putty
a) Startup Putty and Enter: Host Name: premierconsulting.com
Port: 51236
And enter a name for the saved session, and click "Save"
b) On the left hand side, click SSH, then Tunnels
Enter: Source Port: 5900
Destination: localhost:5900
And click the "ADD" button
Now click the newly created item, and click "OPEN"
c) Enter the username you wish to connect with.
IE: peoplesoft
Then enter the password.
d) If you have successfully connected to the server, a windows prompt will display
Start UltraVNC Viewer
a) Click Start, All Programs, UltraVNC, UltraVNC Viewer
b) Enter "localhost", in for VNC Server
c) Click Connect. You will now be prompted with the password
Enter the correct vnc password. and click "Log On". Do not worry if the system beeps when entering a password of more then 6 charaters. Thats fine. Just keep typing your password
d) You should now have access to the server
